3. Promoting the environmental work of contracted hotels
3.1 BOCOG training seminar on water saving for contracted hotels

On July, 22, BOCOG Games Services Department (GSD) and Environmental Activities Department (EAD) co-organized a water-saving training seminar in line with the "Environmental Protection Guidelines on Hotel Services for the Beijing Olympic Games". The seminar aimed to facilitate the Olympic contracted hotels to better understand and fulfill all requirements of the Guideline.
At the seminar, a focal point of Beijing Municipal Water Conservation Office explained some relevant provisions in the "Method for Water Saving in Beijing". Based on the actuality of the hotels, he not only recommended some water saving measures, such as use of gray water and rainwater and application of water saving facilities, but he also briefed on the technical and basic management index for water saving enterprises.
3.2 Interim Inspection
From Sept. to Nov. 2005, GSD invited environmental experts to conduct interim inspection in the contracted hotels on their energy saving, water saving, indoor air quality and comprehensive management, etc., to promote the implementation of the "Environmental Guidelines for Olympic Hotel Services". On Jan. 12, 2006, BOCOG held a communication meeting with the contracted hotels to report on their performance in fulfilling the "Guidelines" and propose on their future environmental work.
