The third round of campaign to solicit songs for the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games is to be launched on New Year's Day. The solicitation campaign of songs for the Volunteers of Beijing 2008 will simultaneously be launched.
Online music pieces will be eligible for the campaigns for the first time.
Rules and regulations of the campaigns will be available at www.beijing2008.cn (the official Web site of BOCOG), www.sohu.com as well as newspapers. The campaigns will last till 17:00, June 1, 2006.
BOCOG will organize a consulting panel consisting of foreign and domestic music producers, and will make full use of production capabilities and platforms of Chinese Musician Association, international record corporations and TV stations to boost every phase of the campaigns.
A forum on the inception of Olympic songs will feature a number of well-known musicians.
SOHU.com, the Official Internet Content Sponsor of Beijing 2008 Olympic Games, will put out charts of the excellent entries on its channel for the collection of Olympic songs. Internet users can listen to these songs and vote online. Some papers will publish the lyrics of the songs.
Ten songs for Beijing 2008 and six songs for Beijing Olympic volunteers will be selected. The Theme Song for 2008 Olympic volunteers will be selected from the top six candidates out of all entries collected from the campaign of songs for the volunteers.
All the candidate songs will be released next year. There will be, for the first time, prize for best organization to award musical institutes, co-sponsors, and co-host cities.
