
(BEIJING, June 13) -- The Beijing Organizing Committee for the Games of the XXIX Olympiad (BOCOG) attaches great importance to media service and it will start a"one stop service" on July 1, BOCOG President Liu Qi told the visiting President and CEO of the Associated Press Tom Curley on Wednesday.
Liu said BOCOG is seriously carrying out its promise to extend considerate, convenient and efficient services for the world media, and his committee welcomes AP, an influential news agency in the world, to cover the preparatory work for the Olympics comprehensively.
Updating the guest on the preparatory work for the Beijing Olympics, Liu said one of the highlights of the next Olympic Summer Games is the torch relay. During a period of 97 days and a journey of over 40,000km, the holy flame will travel to 113 cities and regions in 31 provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions of China, opening a new chapter of the Olympic Movement. BOCOG welcomes AP and other world media to cover the torch relay and report moving stories during the activity.
In his reply, Mr. Curley said the Beijing Municipality and BOCOG have made great efforts to ensure the success of the forthcoming Olympics and made remarkable achievements in their preparatory work. AP wants to enhance its cooperation with BOCOG in its news coverage of China and Beijing.
Present at the meeting was BOCOG Executive Vice-President and Secretary-General Wang Wei.
