(BEIJING, June 15) -- Liu Qi, president of the Beijing Organizing Committee for the Games of the XXIX Olympiad (BOCOG) met with visiting Belgian Crown Prince Philippe on Friday.
In his welcome remarks, Liu praised HRH for his positive contribution to the friendly relations between Belgium and China, and described Belgium as a positive contributor to the Olympic Movement. In 1920 Belgium hosted the VII Olympiad.
"We hope to enhance links and exchanges with the Belgian government and various circles of the Belgian society and deepen our cooperation in sport, economic, cultural and other areas," said Liu, who updated the guest on the preparatory work for the forthcoming Olympics.
Touching on the encouraging achievements in BOCOG's preparatory work, the Crown Prince said Belgium wishes to strengthen cooperation and exchange with Beijing, thus increasing the friendship between the two countries.
