(BEIJING, June 28) -- The Beijing Organizing Committee for the Games of XXIX Olympiad (BOCOG) and Microsoft (China) have jointly announced that Microsoft China has become the Official System Software and Support Supplier of the Games of the XXIX Olympiad.
As the System Software and Support Supplier, Microsoft (China) will provide innovative and mission critical software solutions and services to the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, including operating systems, office software, project management software, consulting and technical support services. The innovative software solutions include the latest offerings from Microsoft, including Windows Vista, 2007 Microsoft Office 2007 and SQL Server.
Mr. Hou Xinyi, Deputy Director of the BOCOG Technology Department, is confident that BOCOG's cooperation with Microsoft China will bring about many benefits, including financial and product support, as well as advanced technology and services. According to Hou, "System Software has become a critical factor to guarantee the smooth operation of big event like the Olympic Games. Microsoft is one of the world's largest software companies. By working with global technology leaders like Microsoft, we will be able to create a robust computing experience that is familiar, easier, safer and more connected for the participants, and in so doing, contribute to the concept of Hi-Tech Olympics."

Microsoft software solutions will support seven Games Systems that play a crucial role in the management of the Beijing Olympics: Game Management System (GMS), Information Diffusion System (IDS), On Venue Results System (OVR), E-mail System, Software Distribution System, Monitoring Platform and Enterprise Search System of Info 2008.
Additionally, Microsoft China will also provide the BOCOG with dedicated technical account managers and services in system design, system design review, system testing, system tuning and implementation and 24/7 support during the 2008 Beijing Games time.
Currently, the Microsoft Exchange Server has been adopted as the e-mail system of BOCOG, delivering high security, reliability, accountability and manageability to meet the stringent security and reliability requirements.
