
(BEIJING,July 5) -- A clearly cleaner Changping is rising from the ground with more than 44.7 km of the 103.9 km route of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games Road Cycling event within its jurisdiction, Changping District is making great strides to clean up and improve the 240 sq m area around the Jing-Chang Expressway.
Among the improvements will be 24 new public parks.
In addition to upgrading the quality of life in Changping, these new public parks will also offer Beijingers new places to go for leisurely activity.
The parks will contain grass lawns, a plaza, a musical fountain, open-air dance floor, art wall, children's activity area, environment-friendly parking lots and public toilets.
According to Changping's Bureau of Parks and Woods, designers have considered the unique characteristics of the natural surroundings of the town in planning the flora of the parks.
Changping District has cleared away 4,735 sq m of land around the road cycling route, reforested 430,000 sq m of land, and repainted 150,000 sq m of building surface area since beginning improvements last year.
