(BEIJING, July 21) -- The Beijing Lawyers' Association has been selecting a total of 350 lawyers to assist the Beijing Organizing Committee for the Games of the XXIX Olympiad (BOCOG) in protecting the Olympics-related intellectual property rights (IPR).

The lawyers are collecting infringement and investigation data, and supporting BOCOG's efforts to spread the knowledge of IPR, Vice-President of the association Peng Xuefeng said, quoted by the Beijing Times.

"Trusted by BOCOG, our association began in August 2006 to seek law professionals in the Beijing area to provide pre-Games legal services for BOCOG," Peng said.

The volunteers, who work six months a term, must meet BOCOG requirements for volunteers and have a working experience and sufficient voluntary service time.

So far two batches of volunteer lawyers have been recruited and another three batches will be made ready before August 8, 2008 when the Olympic Games start, Peng added.

There are 14,267 registered lawyers in Beijing, who belong to 1,044 law firms.
