
(BEIJING, July 20) -- The International Forum on the Olympics and School Physical Education has opened in Beijing.
Chinese officials, experts and scholars from China, America, France, Austria, Korea, South Africa and Thailand are slated to be in attendance.
Delegates noted the importance of grasping the special opportunities created by the 2008 Olympics and promote education. In addition, experts put emphasis on the cultural quality of the citizens in the host city and the fundamental role played by the Confucianist thoughts and education.
The seminar conducted in-depth discussions on the development of modern Olympics and how to realize the notion of getting "geared to the needs of modernization, of the world and of the future", spreading the Olympic spirit and enhancing physical education.
The forum was jointly hosted by the volleyball association under the Sports Association of China Secondary School Students and Beijing Jingshan School.
An international volleyball tournament for secondary school students was also slated to be held during the forum.
