(BEIJING, July 26) -- Where does it hurt?
You can find out in a few short months as the brand-new China-Japan Friendship Hospital, the designated hospital for the Games of the XXIX Olympiad, will launch construction this September.
A series of measures are taken to guarantee that athletes are attended to with appropriate medical care. So says, Xu Su who heads the international medical department of the hospital.
A third floor will be added to the original international medical department building with an estimated expense of several million US dollars. Upon the completion of the project -- slated for completion in the first half of 2008, 31 beds will be available with another 31 prepared for emergencies. The reconstructed hospital rooms will be no smaller than 25 square meters, each one capable of affording standard first-aid.
The hospital has fully considered the needs of the athletes and includes Internet access, ordering special-made hospital beds and increasing the number of security personnel.
Xu said they would provide meals to meet Chinese, \Western, Japanese and Moslem tastes. Hospital staff has made great efforts on personnel training which includes Olympic knowledge, professional skills and multi-language proficiency.
