BELGRADE, July 27 (Xinhua) -- Jacques Rogge, president of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), said Friday that the Olympic Games will not ban cycling though the sport got shaked by the doping scandals during the ongoing Tour de France.
"To exclude the sport from the Olympic Games is not a solution," said the IOC chief during his visit to Belgrade where went on the Youth Olympics.
Rogge said the IOC planned to help the International Cycling Union (UCI) "as a trusted partner" to improve the sport.
"It is not the UCI that is cheating. It is the riders who are cheating," he added.
Regarded the world's greatest cycling race, the Tour de France has been heavily blown by doping scandals involving pre-race favorite Alexander Vinokourov and Italy's Cristian Moreni.
