After losing singles' event at the Acura Classic tennis tournament, Chinese Peng Shuai gained a little of comfort on Tuesday as she and partner, Vinia King of the US, broke into the second round of women's doubles by edging out a German/Russian pair in straight sets.
Peng and Vinia displayed better coordination in whatever offense or defense and two successful breaks ensured them to win the opener with 7-5.
German Vanessa Henke and Russian player Ekaterina Makarova finally collapsed after they tied the Chinese/American rivals 1-1 in the second set.
Peng and Vinia swept remaining five games to wrap up the final victory.
They will clash with Hsieh Su-Wei of Chinese Taipei and Russian Alla Kudryavtseva in next round.
