(BEIJING, July 31) -- Ready for my close-up Mr. Deville!
More than 1,000 fashion designers, young and old, are gearing up to design the latest Olympic garb for the host Chinese delegation during the Games of the XXIX Olympiad.
Registration started in late April for the Uniform Design Competition for the Chinese Delegation, which include noted designers from nearly every corner of the nation.
The design contest has attracted individuals from 79 universities, including 17 from around the globe and 15 domestic and international fashion associations.
Professional designers are not the only interested group. In Beijing alone, 10 large communities of residents have registered for the contest and will present their ideas and designs.
Draft recruitment will close on August 25, followed by the first round of evaluation and rating.
According to a survey conducted by Sohu.com, 48% of web users prefer the red color as it best represents China; 32% think Chinese calligraphy conveys the Chinese national spirit and character best; 87% believe the uniform of the Chinese delegation should reflect all the features of the Chinese costume.
