ITTF release monthly ranking, African and Pan Am paddlers marks higher ranking

International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) uncovered the monthly world ranking for the table tennis players on Wednesday 1st August 2007.

Some paddlers' ranking advanced aboviously.ITTF report on Tuesday indicated that the progress is as a direct result of successes gained in the table tennis events at the recent African Games and Pan American Games.

The Dominican Republic's Lin Ju and Nigeria's Segun Toriola are the two players to make the most noticeable progress on the Men's World Ranking list issued by the  whilst in the counterpart female list the names in the ascendancy are Gao Jun of the United States and Wu Xue, who like Lin Ju, represents the Dominican Republic.

Segun Toriola, who won the Men's Singles title at the African Games for a third consecutive times moves from no. 102 to no. 93 whilst even more noticeable is the progress of Lin Ju. He advances from no. 52 to no. 44.

Meanwhile, for the women it is the event in Rio de Janeiro, the Pan American Games, that has effected the greatest changes.

Gao Jun, the winner of the Women's Singles gold medal moves one place from no. 16 to no. 15, whilst the silver medallist in Brazil, Wu Xue, moves four places from no. 48 to no. 44.

Chinese unchanged

Movement in the top hundred but not amongst the very elite; in the men's list the Chinese trio of Ma Lin, Wang Liqin and Wang Hao occupy the respective top three places with Germany's Timo Boll at four, Vladimir Samsonov of Belarus at five and Korea's Oh Sang Eun at six.

Similarly, in the women's list, it is no change with the superstars of China in the leading five places. Zhang Yining heads the Women's Rankings followed by Wang Nan, Guo Yue, Guo Yan and Li Xiaoxia. Hong Kong's Tie Yana appears at no.6.

In the Under 21 Men's and Under 18 Boys?Rankings the names to make notable progress are the Chinese juniors Li Yang, Cui Qinglei and Xu Ruifeng.

Winner of the Junior Boys?Singles crown at the recently completed Asian Junior Champions, Li Yang, moves from no. 5 to no. 6 on the Under 18 Boys?Rankings and from no. 23 to no. 19 on the Under 21 Men's Rankings.

However, it is his colleagues who suffered in the closing stages that make the most progress.

Cui Qinglei, the runner up in Hoengseung, enters the Under 21 Men's Rankings at no. 17 and the Under 18 Boys' Rankings at no. 5; whilst Xu Ruifeng, whom he beat at the penultimate stage, progresses from no. 101 to no. 41 on the Under 21 Men's list and from no. 28 to no. 11 on the Under 18 Boys' list.

Similarly, in the Under 21 Women's and Under 18 Girls' listings it is the Chinese players who succeeded at the Asian Junior Championships who make the most noticeable progress.

Li Xiaodan, the winner of the Junior Girls' Singles event, moves from no. 75 to no. 34 on the Under 21 Women's Rankings, whilst on the Under 18 Girls' Rankings, she now appears at no. 16 have previously stood at no. 25.

Meanwhile, Cao Lisi, a member of the Chinese gold medal winning Girls' Team at the ITTF World Junior Championships in Linz, Austria in 2005 enters the Under 21 Women's Rankings at no. 46 and the Under 18 Girls?Rankings at no. 19.

Changes but not at the top; in both male and female lists in the Under 21 and Under 18 age group categories, the leading places remain unchanged.

In the Under 21 Men's Rankings, China's Ma Long retains top spot followed by Germany's Dimitrij Ovtcharov and Hong Kong's Jiang Tianyi, whilst in the female list, China's Guo Yue and Li Xiaoxia occupy the leading two places with Japan's Ai Fukuhara at no.3.

Similarly, in the Under 18 Boys' Rankings it is the same as for the July list.

China's Jun Mizutani is in the number position in the male list with Chinese Taipei's Chiang Hung-Chieh at no. 2 and Japan's Kenta Matsudaira at no. 3 whilst for the girls it is Chinese names that are in the ascendancy.

Ding Ning is in top place followed by Liu Shiwen and Feng Yalan.
