(BEIJING, October 31) -- Beijing Vice Mayor and BOCOG Executive Vice-President Liu Jingmin met with the visiting Chief Secretary for Administration of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR), Henry Tang Ying-yen, here Thursday morning.
Liu spoke highly of the Hong Kong SAR government's preparations for the Olympic Equestrian events. The Good Luck Beijing sport event staged in Hong Kong showed the preparations to be highly effective. The International Equestrian Federation (FEI) commended all aspects of the event, including venue construction, preparations, organization, ticketing, media reception, and volunteers.
Liu said that some delegates of the IOC Coordination Commission for the Games of XXIX Olympiad, which recently held its ninth plenary session in China, visited the equestrian venues in Hong Kong SAR and gave high marks.
Liu extended his gratitude to the Hong Kong SAR and Hong Kongers and expressed hope that the equestrian event organizers would continue working together with BOCOG to contribute to the success of the Beijing Olympic Games.
Henry Tang Ying-yen noted that the Hong Kong SAR and Hong Kong people are extremely mindful of the preparatory work for the Beijing Olympic Games and that it is a great fortune to have the equestrian events held in Hong Kong. He pledged that the Olympic equestrian events would be a success.
