CANBERRA, Nov. 5 (Xinhua) -- Libby Lenton has won the honor of Australia's swimmer of the year.
The 22-year-old, who won five gold medals at this year's FINA World Championship in Melbourne, received the award in Sydney late Sunday.
Lenton joins Olympic winners Susie O'Neill (1995 and 1996) and Jodie Henry (2004) and last year's winner Leisel Jones as the fourth woman to win the award.
Lenton also became the first female to break 53 seconds over the 100m freestyle. She won gold in the 50m and 100m freestyle, 100m butterfly and two relays at the world championships and will hope for a repeat at next year's Olympic Games in Beijing.
