(BEIJING, November 8)-- Chinese popular dishes may be featured on the menu of the Beijing Olympics, the organizers said on Thursday.

The menu designers will fully consider the different cultural background, dietary habits, diets and behavioral patterns of the athletes, journalists and other people from various countries, and meet their demands with dishes of different styles, while offering the best Chinese dishes, according to the 89th meeting of the Executive Board of the Beijing Organizing Committee for the Games of the XXIX Olympiad (BOCOG).

In addition to discussing the menu design for the International Broadcasting Center (IBC), the meeting also heard reports on the Olympic Village, Media Village and Main Press Center (MPC).

Referring to the design scheme for the Victory Ceremony Host/Hostesses costume, the meeting noted that "Chinese elements, national characteristics and the trend of the times" should highlight the concept of the design. The costume will be chosen from the submissions of the targeted designers and the public after the panel appraisal and repeated modifications. Some submissions have been selected and they will be made public soon to seek opinions for the final choice.

Regarding the Olympic cultural activities, the participants noted that they will be organized with the aim of holding "high-level Olympics with distinguishing features" while carrying out the concept of the "People's Olympics."

The meeting urged the use of rich Chinese cultural resources and Beijing's position as a national cultural center to express the best wishes of the Chinese and the people of other countries to "share the Olympics and live in harmony and co-existence", display the age-old Chinese cultural traditions and the characteristics of China's 56 ethnic groups, and leave a unique cultural legacy to the Olympic Movement through mass participation.

The meeting was chaired by BOCOG president Liu Qi, who is also member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and secretary of CPC Beijing Municipal Committee.
